Even in the absence of disease Proline has positive effects on the crop both in the increase of plant biomass and winter hardiness.

Positive benefits on root biomass

The Proline treated plant has over 30% greater root biomass than the untreated plant. This means that it is more resistant to lodging and gives the crop a higher yield potential than the untreated plant.

Similar effects are seen on other biomass assessments such as stem biomass and leaf area index.  In turn this leads to excellent winter hardiness equivalent to, or better than, current standards.
